Feminist Judith: We Should Not Prosecute Young Black Males Who Commit Sexual Assault Because . . .

11/16/2014

Feminist Judith Levine, who for the record contributes to garbage outlets like AARPSalon and the New York Times, published a piece in the radical CounterPunch magazine in which she basically argues that we should not prosecute young black males who commit sexual assault.
Remember the Sayreville hazing incident? Seven minority students sexually assualted their younger teammates in what can best be described as some locker-room butt play. According to the Star-Ledger, the minority students involved in the sexual assault are all to be tried as juveniles. However, Judith disagrees with this move, because she believes that the darling students should basically be given a slap on the wrist:
If it’s true that all seven of the football players arrested for hazing in the Sayreville, New Jersey, War Memorial High School locker room are students of color, that is one more reason not to prosecute them as sexual felons.
I don’t mean not to prosecute them in adult court. I mean not to prosecute them at all.
If they’re guilty, they should be disciplined by the school, kicked off the Bombers team, and held accountable to their victims by making amends in words and deeds.
Why not just put them in “time out” and make them write their names on the chalkboard 100 times, Judith? I mean is this lady serious? These kids should be given some break for sexually assaulting their peers just because they’re black? When the hell did being black come with the privilege of being able to commit crime?
But it gets better. She goes on to basically downplay the sexual assault that the victims endured:
The state has charged the boys, variously, with aggravated sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual contact, conspiracy to commit aggravated sexual contact, criminal restraint, and hazing, involving what the New York Times called “the sexual penetration of one of the juvenile victims.”
The juvenile victim in question describes it as the pressing of a digit or digits against the shallow dent between his clothed buttocks—unpleasant, but hardly the traumatic experience the law, and the press, assume it to be. The other sexual aggressions appear to amount to grabbing of butts and genitals.
Unbelievable! I wonder how she would react if the boys had sexually assaulted some girls. Would she be so quick to dismiss the assault as “hardly the traumatic experience the law” assumes it to be?
She then goes on to try to make us feel sorry for them:
. . . [A] conviction almost definitely will put them on the sex offender registry. New Jersey’s minimum period of registration is 15 years. That 15 years also amounts to a life sentence.
All former felons suffer thousands of state or federally imposed collateral consequences of conviction—from the inability to get a car salesman’s license to permanent denial of the right to vote—condemning them to poverty and social alienation.
If an autistic guy like me tried to awkwardly hit on a feminist, I would probably be labeled a misogynst and a sexist and a monster. Yet these same feminists want to turn around and make us feel sorry for a bunch of young black kids who just committed sexual assault. What the hell, man!? Did I die and go to hell? Am in the Twilight Zone right now? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON . . . . !?
Judith goes on to use a bunch of statistics to make it sound like blacks are unfairly targeted by public sex offender registries. The premise is that blacks are purportedly “over-represented” in public registries. Apparently, most sex offenders are white, but most sex offenders listed in the registries are black. I cannot really explain this, nor do I care to even try, as it is completely tangential to Sayreville hazing incident.
Anyway. She ends with the following nonsense:
. . . [I]n a nation already overflowing with prisoners both juvenile and adult, the vast majority of them black and brown, do we need to lock up more black and brown kids?
The hypocrisy here is unbelievable. But it is not surprising at all to me. For whatever reason, feminists feel the need to excuse the behavior of the most reprehensible people among us. As someone who has been bullied, who has been taken advantage of, and who has dealt with plenty of “gentle giants,” “thugs” and other miscreants, I am getting sick and bloody tired of feminists and their progressive peers (Jon Stewart) trying to turn monsters into martyrs. Every time they do that, they spit in the face of the REAL VICTIMS!
It truly boggles my mind how twisted liberals and progressives have become. They have managed to upend everything that is proper and right in this world. Right is wrong. Wrong is wrong. Up is down. Down is up. And thugs and rapists and molesters are all heroes!
Welcome to the Liberal Utopia that we have all been promised by the Progressives, ladies and gentlemen . . .
