Victor Yanez Arroyo |
On Friday, FBI agents raided a residence in Raleigh and rescued a 12-year-old girl, who had been kidnapped on her way to school in Maryland, a few days earlier.
The victim was last seen on Nov. 11, as she left for Perry Hall Middle School, about a mile from her Baltimore County home. Investigators believe her alleged abductor, 22-year-old Victor Yanez Arroyo, initially made contact with the sixth-grader through online X-Box gaming.
On Saturday, the girl was being reunited with her elated family in Maryland.
Though the victims of sex crimes are not typically identified, the girl’s family has decided to come forward in hopes of helping others…
The victim’s mom, Tina Baker told WRAL:
Like I told her, she needs to be strong in hopes that, during her healing process, we can find ways to help other people. The only way to do that is to hold your head up and deal with what has been dealt to you.
Arroyo has been charged with kidnapping and first-degree rape. He is currently being held at the Wake County Detention Center on an ICE detainer.
On Monday, during the Arroyo’s first court appearance, it was learned that in 2007, the illegal alien was convicted of assaulting a woman in North Carolina, and is currently on probation for that offense.
It is not known at this time why Arroyo was not deported following his conviction.
