A man was charged early this week after allegations he photographed a young girl while she was showering.
When Jesus Almendariz was confronted by his girlfriend who asked about the pictures, he told her they were “old pictures of past relationships,” according to an affidavit obtained by Action 4 News.
That’s when he allegedly told his girlfriend he would kill himself if she were to report it to police—but that did not stop her. A report was made with the Cameron County Sheriff’s Department who investigated the case.
Photos found on Almendariz laptop also included him touching the girl while she was sleeping, records show.
The photos, video and laptop were submitted as evidence in the case.
The  22-year-old was charged with indecency with a child, a second degree felony and an emergency protective order was issued.
Almendariz faces anywhere from two to 20 years behind bars if convicted of the crime.
Action 4 News does not identify victims of sexual crimes, but records show Alemdariz had close contact with the child.
He was booked into the Cameron County Jail with a bond was set at $50,000.
