Children as useful idiots...
ST. PAUL, Minn. - After a successful push to raise the minimum wage, some Minnesota Democrats want to establish a statewide paid family leave program.
Workers would be able to take up to six weeks off from work for a birth, adoption or to take care of a sick relative under the proposal. They'd make at least two-thirds of their pay during that time.
Advocates say that will improve worker morale and boost productivity. They want workers to contribute up to $78 per year to fund the program, with companies matching that for each employee.
Rep. Ryan Winkler says Americans across the political spectrum support paid family leave. The Golden Valley Democrat hopes that will convince Republican lawmakers to back the proposal.
