NAME THAT PARTY: Torrance County manager still on job despite fraud indictment

03/18/2014

The Torrance County manager remains on the job after getting indicted for fraud, and now she's in charge of even more county money.
4 On Your Side was the first to discover how Joy Ansley steered county contracts to her boyfriend.
KOB Eyewitness News 4 spoke to commissioners today to find out why they still support her, and still trust her.
Two of the three Torrance County managers KOB spoke to have absolutely no problem with Joy Ansley remaining as their county manager -- indictment or not.
Leanne Tapia didn't want to talk on camera but told KOB that she sat in on Ansley's preliminary hearing and she cannot see how a judge would even allow this to go to trial.
Tapia also said that the district attorney showed no evidence at that hearing.
The hottest topic at today's commission meeting was not Ansley's indictment; it was the county's waste disposal management contract that's in the negotiation phase.
The county put Ansley in charge of coming up with the best deal for Torrance County.
That doesn't sit well with some here.
All three of the commissioners praised Ansley Wednesday morning for the clean audit that was returned by the state audit.
Not once did they mention her indictment.
KOB will follow this case and let you know if she keeps the county job.
