A Harlingen teen is behind bars after being accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Jonathan Tyler Lugo on Tuesday afternoon.
Harlingen police told Action 4 News that the 18-year-old is accused of having a sex with a 12-year-old girl.
The investigation started back on August 1st.
Police said the girl's mother reported the crime after taking her daughter to the Valley Baptist Medical Center.
Detectives secured enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant.
Authorities found Lugo at a home on the 1200 block of East Van Buren Avenue.
Lugo remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail under a $150,000 dollar bond.
