DREAMers and Schemers: MS-13 gang member caught by Border Patrol agents

A known gang member has been apprehended near the border.

Border Patrol agents with the Rio Grande Valley sector have caught a member of the Mara Savatrucha gang, commonly known as MS-13.

Border Patrol said the man is a Honduran national who was caught near Rio Grande City.

The apprehension took place Saturday, Jan. 3 around 7:00 in the evening.

A records check into the Honduran man revealed he is a member of the gang.

The man’s identity has not been released at this time.

The FBI has deemed MS-13 as “extremely violent”, and said the gang often targets youth.

An order of removal is set to be reinstated, according to Border Patrol.

The case has been turned over to the prosecution office.
