Immigration Update: Free rent for taking care of stash house ends with arrest

A man accused of harboring unauthorized immigrants was given free rent to watch over the stash house.
Alejandro Gonzalez-Hernandez is accused violating federal law, and he was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) special agents.
The incident happened last week in Brownsville.
Border Patrol and ICE Homeland Security Investigations special agents searched the Brownsville home where they found six immigrants in the US illegally.
Gonzalez-Hernandez was identified as the caretaker of the home, a criminal complaint in the case revealed.
He allegedly admitted he would feed and watch over the six immigrants.
Three immigrants told authorities Gonzalez-Hernandez was the care taker of the home, agents documented.
He allegedly packed bags of clothes for immigrants in preparation for them to be smuggled further north.
Gonzalez-Hernandez is a Mexican national, and he was charged with a felony.
He was booked into the Cameron County Jail with a bond set at $5,000.
Gonzalez-Hernandez is currently in custody of the US Marshals.
The Mexican national is scheduled for a hearing on September 8, 2014 before Magistrate Judge Ronald Morgan.
