McALLEN – Authorities charged two more men Monday in connection with the murder of a 26-year-old McAllen man.
Two weeks ago, McAllen police found Ryan Tyler Sewell dead inside a burning pickup truck just before 2 a.m. at a parking lot on the 3500 block of North McColl Road.
Douglas Esteban Jasso, 28, of McAllen, and Christopher George Hernandez, 23, of Pharr, have both been charged with murder for their involvement in the homicide, said McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez.
Jasso is in custody after he was arrested along with four others Thursday afternoon in a raid in north McAllen. He was already held on $125,000 bond for drug-related charges, but the amount of his current bond was not immediately available.
Police are still looking for Hernandez and Anthony Joe Cortina, who was the first person to be named as a suspect in the homicide back on July 25.
Jasso, as with the other suspects detained in the raid, is a gang member of the Texas Chicano Brotherhood, said Juan Gonzalez, the police chief in San Juan.
Based on evidence, investigators believe the murder took place at a house on the 300 block of Primrose Avenue, the same house that was raided last Thursday.
Rodriguez said Sewell was likely murdered on July 17 or early July 18 and then moved a few days later to the parking lot where police found his body.
More suspects may be named later, police said.
The exact motive is still unclear but Rodriguez said investigators know that drugs were involved.
Anyone with information related to the homicide is asked to call the McAllen Crime Stoppers at 956-687-8477.
