Border War Update: Gun battle reported south of Veterans bridge in Matamoros

Authorities issued an alert following reports of gunfire south of the Veterans International Bridge in Matamoros.
Residents reported took to the social media network Twitter to report gunfire off Avenida Lauro Villar just after 8 a.m. Thursday.
The roadway is one of the busiest in Matmaoros and located just south of the bridge.
According to reports, a 7-11 store was robbed but there were also reports of a chase, a grenade detonating and gunfire.
Mexican authorities are not confirming those details at this time but the American Consulate in Matamoros issued an alert on Twitter.
The alert was lifted just before 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials that the bridge remained open in both directions throughout the incident.
